A Little about me
Hi, I’m Dr. Heather Peterman. Some of you may already know me from TCM Hub, or various other lectures and conferences, and some may be meeting me for the first time. Either way, I'm stoked you sought me out and to have the opportunity to share some of my clinical knowledge with you.
Here’s a little about me so you know where to lean in if you need help. I owned and operated a private practice for many years before closing it in 2016 in order to become a hospital-based acupuncturist. As a practitioner of Integrated Medicine in a huge healthcare organization, I’ve been able to do some very cool things. Some of those include launching programs in oncology, physical medicine/rehabilitation, reproductive endocrinology, and most recently neurosurgery/ orthopedics. Building relationships with physicians and advanced practice providers has become second nature to me.
I’ve also been able to increase access to herbs and formulate topical creams for peripheral neuropathy and radiation burns produced in our pharmacies. Lots of education goes on within the hospital to help get Integrated Medicine programs supported and funded and I’ve been lucky enough to help provide some of that education.
Since my background is pretty diverse I want to help other practitioners move into new areas of their practice with confidence and stretch their comfort zones. My jam is integrating Eastern Medicine and practices into Western Medicine, so all my classes are framed from that standpoint. If that sounds cool to you, you’re in the right spot!
Why do you need this training?
As an acupuncturist, you need to develop language skills and arm yourself with evidence-based knowledge that makes you stand out.
You need to be able to communicate the benefits of what we do clearly and meet a need that is lacking.
You have a very short duration of time to Make lasting impressions that prove you indispensable.
Integrative medicine is the future.
The world we practice in is always changing and you do not receive everything you need to succeed in school.
Because scholarly knowledge does not always lead to clinical success, you need real-time clinical expertise.
